Supporting Academic Success and Workforce Development for Former Foster Youth
What is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, provides opportunities for Americans to serve their country domestically, address the nation’s most pressing challenges, improve lives and communities, and strengthen civic engagement. Each year, the agency places more than 200,000 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers in intensive service roles; and empowers millions more to serve as long-term, short-term, or one-time volunteers.
What is the UNA AmeriCorps Fostering Success Program?
The University of North Alabama AmeriCorps Fostering Success Program curates a variety of university and community resources to admit and support students with a background in the foster care system. This program is designed to unite students with a shared background of foster care to impact and strengthen students by providing innovative support, guidance and leadership to ensure success in completing a bachelor’s degree and successfully entering the workforce.
